Every third year the youth participate in the ELCA Youth Gathering for five days in July. We have participated since 2000. We have traveled to St. Louis, Atlanta, San Antonio, New Orleans (two trips to New Orleans), and Detroit.
During the summers when there is no Youth Gathering, the youth participate in a mission trip to Appalachia helping families in need through the Appalachia Service Project. We have traveled to Kentucky, W Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Waffles and What’s up!? + LYF – Sunday, December 9 at 9:00 am
What’s up church youth!? Join us for some waffles and time to catch up with friends. We’ll whip up piping hot waffles complete with the toppings and whipped cream. And you’ll hear “what’s up!” Learn what LYF events we have planned for the new year. Maybe you’ll even add ideas for new youth activities you’d like to see happen at St. Matthew’s. Confirmands will attend this event in place of classroom time. We will gather in the Meeting Room. If you have questions, talk to Mrs. Lear, Pastor Heidi or one of the other adult LYF leaders.
