LYF (Lutheran Youth Fellowship) is open to all youth in 7th through 12th grades.

LYF Mission Statement:
WE ARE THE CHURCH YOUTH who come together in Christian
fellowship to learn, love, teach, grow, serve and worship;
reinforcing and sharing our faith in God in a fun and fulfilling
way.

Lutheran Youth Fellowship at St. Matthew’s is open to all youth in seventh through twelfth grades. The youth enjoy monthly fellowship or service events/activities. Some of the activities include: a kick-off picnic in the Fall with ice breaker and cooperation games, swimming, kickball, volleyball, washer toss tournament, and food; hayride & bonfire; yard cleanups, Adopt-a-Highway trash pickups; lock-in with Rock ‘n Glow midnight bowling; making chocolate covered eggs for an Easter candy fundraiser; weekend retreat at Bear creek Camp; preparing & leading a Youth Sunday worship service, an end-of-the-year party with graduate recognition for seniors.

Every third year the youth participate in the ELCA Youth Gathering for five days in July. We have participated since 2000. We have traveled to St. Louis, Atlanta, San Antonio, New Orleans (two trips to New Orleans), and Detroit.

During the summers when there is no Youth Gathering, the youth participate in a mission trip to Appalachia helping families in need through the Appalachia Service Project. We have traveled to Kentucky, W Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Friends are always welcome!
